From January 1st 2016, the amount of Swiss salaries subject to unemployment insurance and compulsory accident insurance will go up from CHF 126’000 p.a. (or CHF 10’500 per month to CHF 148’200 (or CHF 12’350 per month). Anyone with an annual salary between CHF 126’000 and CHF 148’200 will therefore pay more in unemployment and accident insurance contributions in 2016. The upside is that in the case of unemployment, the payouts should be greater.
Compulsory accident insurance contributions will also go up as the threshold rises, however this rise will be offset by the fact that complementary insurance, which usually kicks in where the compulsory insurance stops, should go down.
